5 Reasons Why Enzymatic Peels Are Perfect for Exfoliating Dry Skin

Enzymes peels are made from pumpkin, pineapple, or papaya, and are best for those with dry skin because they get rid of dead skin cells. This kind of peel also works to provide brightening and rejuvenating benefits to the skin. A very mild and gentle skincare facial peel.

A chemical reaction within these peels occurs to exfoliate, which dissolves keratin proteins on the skin. The skin eventually begins to fall off because the keratin protein has helped to unstick them from the top of the skin.

Enzymatic peels are a much gentler alternative to scrubs because they don’t contain harsh abrasives that can potentially irritate the skin. This is why people with sensitive skin will prefer an enzymatic peel over others.

Even though an enzymatic peel is gentle on the skin, first-timers using peels will always want to do a patch test. If you’ve never had an enzymatic peel before, you need to patch test and monitor your skin for any reactions and irritations.

Potential Reactions

Some potential reactions to the skin may still occur, including:

  • Mild redness and/or swelling.
  • Increased sensitivity.
  • Minimal discomfort.
  • Skin may feel hot and/or itchy.

*If any of the above reactions occur, you can apply a cold compress to soothe the skin, or gently apply some aloe vera gel to the treatment area. Another idea is to apply a topical antibiotic ointment to the area to soothe and promote healing.
