Makeup Artistry

The Chronicles of Becoming a PRO Makeup Artist

From the time I was a child growing up, I loved art and how different colours looked when used together on paper. I loved the visual contrasts between different shades of blues, greens, reds, purples, and pinks.

This is where my love of art and makeup began, playing with colours and creating beautiful things.

I loved how the choice of colours used determines how the whole thing is going to come together as a finished piece.

As I got older, I began to experiment with painting and drawing. I loved creating a wide range of graffiti words on paper and I would draw entangle designs around them. When I started paining, I would draw out my vision onto a blank canvas with a pencil first.

After I finished drawing out what I had in mind, I added a rainbow of vibrant colours to my painting to create designs, landscapes, and of course, zentangles!

Overcoming Many of Life’s Challenges

However, there was a brief point in my life where I stopped creating. I did not draw or paint anything at all because I seemed to have what artists call “artists block.” I could not find the inspiration to do any sort of artist medium because my mind was block.

This probably had to do with the fact that I had various life challenges that I allowed to get in the way of my artistic work.

postive quote. All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

Later on, I discovered my desire to help other people in need. I seemed to be struggling between my own inner demons, but also wishing to help other out as well. I did a lot of work on myself, in order to heal those demons in my life and finally broke free from them.

I spend countless days and nights attending Colleges and Universities in order to become what I thought was a great helping career. That did not work out for me, mostly because I think I did those courses for myself to fix parts of me that were not fully healed yet.

Starting to Discover Myself Again

Fast Forward to 2 years ago, I began to find myself again and to rediscover my love of art and creating beautiful things from all kinds of amazing colours. I began to teach myself how to paint and draw again, which I found so enjoyable.

I bought myself some of those adult colouring books and immersed myself into a colourful, meaningful world.

At this point, I was thinking about how I wanted a job where I could help people, but also not have to struggle with huge amount of stress at my place of work. I decided to enrol myself in the Cosmetics Techniques and Management program at my local college, and I immediately fell in love with it.

Makeup Application as an Artistic Medium

I enrolled in this college program, because I figured that I could finally be successful in creating art, while helping others to enhance their natural. beauty. After all those years of searching for there perfect college program (and career), I finally found my true calling, to become a professional makeup artist.

This program is everything I expected it to be and so much more! It is exciting to learn about how to create beautiful works of art on people’s faces and how the shape of their face dictates where to place the makeup on.

I love how I am learning how to do everything from applying lipstick for a fuller lip look to eyeshadow, contouring and more. My favourite part of this makeup journey is when we get to practice colour correcting and camouflage makeup in our classroom lab.

I love how with the right consistency and colours of makeup, you can actually cover up a tattoo to look like it is hidden. I love how the shape of an eyebrow brings the whole makeup look together, or how a subtle colour of blush will help to give the face a natural and beautiful glow.

I could literally go on for hours on end about how much fun this program is for me, but that would take forever!

Finally Finding My Truest Calling

In a nutshell, I knew my destiny was written in lipstick, eyeshadow, and blush brushes – Makeup artistry was my true calling! Being able to turn faces into a canvas of beauty, blending my passion for art and creativity into a thrilling career, was the ultimate dream come true!

The world of makeup is as limitless as your imagination! With endless colors and styles at your fingertips, there’s no limit to the looks you can create. As a makeup artist, I get to unleash my true self and revel in every moment, squeezing every ounce of joy out of life!

Ever since I kickstarted my career journey, a new superpower has emerged within me. I can spot breathtaking beauty in every corner, nook, and cranny! Even when I gaze upon the autumn leaves, with their kaleidoscope of colors, my eyes just can’t get enough of the sheer loveliness.

When I look at the water and the small colourful waves that come ashore, I see beauty. In the smiles of loved ones, in the colours of eyes, in the various face shapes and in every point of nature and everywhere my eyes drift to, I see beauty!

Dreaming of My Future Success

My goal is to spread the love and awe-inspiring wonder of beauty to all those I work with. Applying makeup is my way of inspiring others to embrace their own unique beauty and to always strive to be their best and most stunning selves!

I believe that by sharing that beauty with others, I can sprinkle inspiration everywhere while I work my magic doing their makeup!
