Makeup Artistry

7 Reasons Why I Decided to Become a PRO Makeup Artist

My top 7 reasons for becoming a PRO Makeup Artist began in childhood, with my love of colouring in colouring books and discovering new colour combinations I never used before.

As I got older, I found my love of makeup and found that I could integrate my love of art into various makeup application techniques like colour correcting, contouring and selecting colours for blushes and lipsticks.

I recently began thinking about what kind of career I could have, where I could be creative and express my love of beauty and colours every day. This led me to begin the best journey toward owning my own beauty business.

Discovering and Expressing My Passions

I wanted a career that offered me the freedom to express my creative side and my true love for art and beauty. I love how makeup artistry freelancing allows me to play with colours in new and innovative ways.

Playing with colours as a Makeup Artist helps me to discover beautiful colour combinations for different eyeshadow looks, and lip colours to figure out what is going to look best on each of my client’s skin tones.

Playing with colours as a makeup artist also gives me the ability to colour correct various imperfections on the skin and to see which colours I must use to cover up specific areas of concern.

Increase Confidence with Makeup

I also wanted to become a professional freelance Makeup Artist to help increase the confidence and self-image of all my clients. This career choice helps me to do this by showing every client their true beauty and individuality through many amazing makeup transformations.

I love the idea of recommending beauty products to clients and showing them how to use them because I find that a lot of trends do not account for individual needs. For the beauty products and routines I recommend (even through my affiliate links on this website), I only recommend what is best for each client.

How I do this is by having a consultation with each client to determine exactly what they need, what works for them and what doesn’t, and any allergies or concerns they may have. That way, I know for sure that they are going to benefit from each product and they won’t irritate their skin.

All of my consultations are all based on client-centred conversations and discovering the individual beauty needs of each client. I want to use my freelance Makeup Artistry business to empower and inspire others to visualize their beauty beyond social norms and/or stereotypes.

I try to use makeup as a way to enhance the true beauty of all people and to talk with them about how they can hone their individual confidence and not worry about what other people may think of them.

Build Something Successful From Scratch

I also wanted to become a professional freelance makeup artist to build a solid foundation from the ground up and to see it grow in ways that benefit all lifestyles. I want to show clients how a makeup transformation can set the stage for creating their own visions of what success means to them.

As a professional freelance Makeup Artist, the world is in my oyster. There are endless possibilities for growth (both personally and professionally). There are also so many wonderful opportunities and flexibility to take on various jobs in the beauty industry.

Endless Job Opportunities

Here is a list of some (but not all) of the job opportunities that are exciting and intriguing:

PRO Makeup Artist career opportunities.

Financial Independence: The Girlboss Attitude

I love that this type of career in this industry can help me achieve financial independence as I run my own business. I often hear my mentors tell me that “the only barrier to success is yourself.” What they mean is that I can choose to decide how to be successful and the steps I take to ensure that success.

Continuous Education, Learning and Growth

Being successful as a professional freelance Makeup Artist allows me to learn through continuous education by taking courses, workshops, etc. and by attending many different beauty trade shows and conferences.

Another way I continue to learn in this industry is by staying current and up-to-date on trends and by working with various clients and professionals.

My #1 Reason

Ultimately, I decided to become a professional freelance Makeup Artist to follow my passions and by integrating my love of art and beauty into helping others achieve more self-confidence.
